Fascination
As a young boy, I was fascinated by television, media, technology and design. I knew for sure that I wanted to do something with media.
I dismantled televisions and radios to understand how they worked. I hacked phones to understand how connections were setup. My poor parents :-)
I also liked computers. I had a Commodore 64. To play games. Lots of games. It came with a German manual so my programming skills were limited by language.
I had no true interest in programming, I was more interested in digital video and digital graphic design. I did like to hack around and try unknown peaks and pokes.
Me and my friends hacked the schools’ copymachine. We used remote controls to switch the neighbours TV’s and to drive teachers mad.
I also liked to draw and design. I designed my own fonts. I designed the schools’ newspaper. My creativity was a mix of design and innocent, fun hacks.
I wasn’t a nerd though. I lived in a small town and played a lot outside with friends. Riding my BMX and playing in the woods and the fields was fun too.
